What Belongs on a Vacation Rental Turnover Checklist?

A room-by-room approach to keeping a guest stay clean, consistent and ready on time.

Make the checklist repeatable

A good turnover is more than a quick clean. It combines cleaning, resetting supplies and checking that the home is ready for the next guest. A written checklist helps every visit follow the same order, even when the window between bookings is short.

Work room by room

In the kitchen, inspect counters, sink, appliance exteriors and the inside of the refrigerator. In bathrooms, check mirrors, fixtures, showers and fresh linens. In living and sleeping areas, dust reachable surfaces, make beds, remove trash and finish with the floors.

Do not overlook high-touch spots such as handles, switches and remotes or the glass on doors that lead to the lanai.

Finish with a final look

Once the rooms are complete, walk through as if you were arriving for the first time. Are supplies where a guest expects them? Are there visible smudges or stray items? Flag damage or missing items separately rather than treating them as cleaning issues.

A consistent final check helps a home look just as considered for the next arrival as it did for the first.
