How to Keep Lanai Doors Looking Clear in Southwest Florida
A practical routine for the glass between your living room and the outdoors, even through pollen, rain and everyday fingerprints.

Start with the tracks
Lanai sliders collect grit where the glass meets the floor. Before cleaning the pane, vacuum the track with a narrow attachment and lift stubborn sand with a soft brush. Wiping glass first can drag that grit back onto the surface.
Check the corners and the edge of the screen, too. A quick pass here keeps the door moving smoothly and stops debris from spreading onto freshly mopped tile.
Clean glass out of direct sun
Work when the glass is shaded if you can. Bright Florida sun dries cleaning solution before you have time to wipe it away, leaving streaks behind. Spray a small section at a time onto a microfiber cloth rather than soaking the door or its frame.
Use one cloth to clean and a separate, dry cloth to buff. On tall panes, move from top to bottom so drips do not undo your work.
Make it a small, repeatable habit
Fingerprints around handles and pet nose prints near the bottom are the spots you notice most. Touch those up between full cleans, then give the entire inside pane and track a more thorough pass on your regular cleaning day.
If your home faces a lake or preserve, keep an eye on the view-side sliders after windy days. You do not need to deep-clean the whole room every time the glass needs attention.
